, just like Henry David Thoreau, believe that man was created by God to succeed. Through God’s help, we can succeed in all aspects of our lives, more so in our spiritual walk on earth. Judging from Philippians 3, we ought to press on towards the prize, which in this case is getting to heaven.
I have come to learn that success is sweet, the sweeter if attained through manifold struggles and defeats. As I encourage the continuing students, I would like them to keep in mind that the roots of success are bitter but the fruits are sweet and once you attain your success, no one can take it from you. Success comes about as a result of a simple cycle. THINK-IDEA-TRY-DO-DO AGAIN-AND AGAIN-KEEP ON GOING-ATTAIN YOUR SUCCESS! Which of these levels have you reached? THINK. Have you thought of your dreams? What is it that you want at the end of your high school life? This phase mainly involves setting goals and targets, keeping in mind that if your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough. Walt Disney, the mind behind a successful business empire said, "If you can dream it, you can do it”.
IDEA. I am referring to ideas on how to get to your dream. At this level, you should develop a work ethic and deter-mine what works best for you.
TRY. Once you have set down a strategy, give it a try. It may not entirely work out, but remember growth comes about as a result of constant improvement through working on the areas of weakness. If it is important to you, you will find a way,not an excuse.
DO-DO AGAIN-AND-AGAIN. Once you identify what works best for you, employ it repeatedly until you feel that your success is forthcoming.
KEEP ON GOING. As human beings, we are prone to surrender when the going gets tough. At this point, keep in mind that every successful person has a painful story. Every painful story has a successful ending. Embrace the pain and get ready to succeed. Keep in mind the price of success: Dedication, hard work and unremitting devotion to what you want to see happen. As a successful person, you will make mistakes yet you must never quit. Success should not get to your head and failure should not get to your heart. Only take in positive criti¬cism and remember we are not called to respond to criticism, but we are called to respond to God.
ATTAIN YOUR SUCCESS. Note that you are attaining your success. As such a successful person must learn to compete himself or herself and their own abilities because you are your own worst enemy. You can be the greatest hindrance or the force behind your success. Fight against a negative attitude and lack of self-confidence and only you can do these things for yourself. The only person you need to be better than is the person you were yesterday. Remember to dedicate your plans to The Lord as he leads you to your sweet success. Psalms 1:1-3. On behalf of the Nehemiahs, I would like to wish you the best in all your endeavors.
