The Moi High School-Kabarak Science Department comprises three Science subjects; Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. All are compulsory subjects up to K.C.S.E.
The department has 30 qualified, committed and dedicated teaching staff and also 7 qualified, hardworking and dedicated Laboratory Technicians.
The department has a fully equipped modern Laboratories, each with a preparation room and a store. Practical teaching is an integral part of our teaching and this makes the learning of sciences an exciting, enjoyable and memorable experience for our students. Each Laboratory has fixed up-to-date equipment for digital content learning. This has helped not only make Science subjects exciting but also helped demystify some abstract concepts which are not easily understood by the learners.
The department organizes symposiums regularly and also the annual science day. These activities enable students to have an opportunity to inculcate critical values such as unity, responsibility, integrity, and respect among others as well as the necessary skills for learning, such as communication and collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving, creativity and imagination and self-efficacy.
Over the years, the science department has consistently registered remarkable results nationally. In 2022 K.C.S.E results all three Science subjects registered a positive improvement of Biology (10.60), Physics (10.21) and Chemistry (9.25) compared to 2021 K.C.S.E results; in Biology (8.68), Physics (8.44) and Chemistry (8.10). The success over the years is attributed to among others, early syllabus coverage, teamwork among the teachers, wide and in-depth revision for both high achievers and time takers students, and maximum support from the school administration and hardworking students.
Much appreciation goes to all the science teachers and technicians, the Head of Subjects and the School Administration for their commitment and support at all times.
